As a result of a recent trip I was invited on around China I’ve put together a small gallery of some of the better shots I took while in a town called Qufu. The Photos I took while walking around Qufu are few in number due to the small amount of time we were afforded on our otherwise hectic schedule. I was in China to in an effort to better foster intercultural relations between our two countries. As a Japanese teacher I’m in charge of Asian literacy in the schools I teach at in Australia so I was given this opportunity to visit China.
Qufu is a city in the south-west of Shandong province. Located about 130 km south of the provincial capital Jinan and 45 km northeast of the prefecture seat at Jining. Qufu has an urban population of about 60,000. The reason why we visited and had a tour around Qufu was that Qufu is famous for being the birthplace and hometown of Confucius, the great teacher of China. The philosophy of Confucius emphasized personal and governmental morality, correctness of social relationships, justice and sincerity. Exactly the type of mindset we were in China to experience, in particular within the confines of the school environment.
Around Qufu
The photos I took around Qufu are all taken at night which was the only free time we had to walk around.
