My 2018 National AIPP Photography Awards Results
It’s that time again when it seems all the photography awards are being held, and the 2018 National AIPP Photography Awards were held last night in Melbourne. I’m pleased to say that I have been awarded a total of 4 awards this year, including a single gold award and 3 silver awards for my work in the science sub-category of the nature award. When compared to last year’s effort with similar photos where I managed to earn 3 golds and a silver distinction, while also walking away with the overall title of photographer of the year in the category, this seems a little underwhelming, but I’m still pretty happy with what I achieved! The way it seems to go at the AIPP awards is that if the judges has seen something similar in the past (ie my entries last year) they seem to not judge them as highly, so I kind of expected this result. It would have been nice though to repeat last year’s haul though! Then I would have also earnt my first gold bar on my Master photographer’s ribbon.
You may recognise some of these images from another recent award I achieved, by winning the Emerging Artist prize at the Gallery M Contemporary Art Awards, while also having been featured in a resent article in the Victor Harbor Times and will be featured in an upcoming touring exhibition, so keep tuned for that!
