I’m pleased to announce that I have been recognised in this year’s rendition of the Capture Magazine’s Top Emerging Photographer of the Year Awards with a ‘Highly Commended’ entry in to the Landscape category. These awards are recognised within Australia as one of the best benchmarks for the quality of emerging photographers from around the nation, and I’m very pleased to have been highly commended. My entry into the wedding category did a bit better however, being published in the May-June Issue of the magazine as one of the top 15 wedding photographers nationwide.
Many top photographers in Australia have done well in the Capture Magazine contest, and many see it as a bit of a springboard of exposure and industry visibility if one does well. As a result I’m very happy to have been highly commended.
The images that earnt me my ‘Highly Commended’ status
The way the Capture Magazine’s Top Emerging photographer of the year awards work is that, firstly it’s only open to those photographers who have been in the professional realm for fewer than 5 years, then you are to submit a portfolio of six images relating to the category you’re wishing to contest. In this case it was the landscape category. The images I submitted were taken from all over the world, from Alaska, The Northern Territory, Tasmania, and Fiji – see if you can pick witch image is from where! 🙂
