Adelaide Park Lands Art Prize Finalist
As a bit of a belated announcement, I’m happy to announce that one of my Adelaide solargraphs, the 2 month long exposre of the new Royal Adelaide Hospital has been judged as an Adelaide Park Lands Art Prize Finalist. The same image has won other accolades being one half of the winning entry of the Ian Wellding Emerging Artist prize at Gallery M in 2018 and also receiving a Gold Award at the National AIPP Photography awards.
The Adelaide Park Lands Art Prize is a non-acquisitive art prize open to all artists of any age, working in any media or style – with the aim of making a statement or capturing the essence of the Park Lands. There is a $20,000 first prize, along with a bunch of smaller prizes, so you better believe I’m excited about it all!
The original opening of the exhibition has been postponed due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, but has been rescheduled for December. It’s to be held at the Adelaide Festival Center. I was also invited to a personal audience with the Mayor of Adelaide, to congratulate all the finalists, however that was also postponed 🙁
As this is an Art Prize, the competing finalist entries are pieces that have used a vast array of different mediums so having a photographic print being chosen as a finalist is quite exciting! It’s generally a little harder to compete in these art prizes as a photographer as the physical size and 2D nature of a photo sometimes just cant compete with works of different meidums like paintings or sculpture, but here’s hoping the judges know what they’re looking at!
